Artist's Comments

This was for my son. I wanted to do something for him while he was still excited about it. Apparently this is his favorite dinosaurs.

My main reaction is to the homogeneous mix of black and white. The 50/50 ratio is so even through out the composition, despite the wide variety of patterns.

Sharp contrast should define the center of interest (COI). But where is that, here? It's not where the heavy blacks precipitate, though that's where we expect it.

Well, somehow I don't think you're son will care about that! (Download "Cute Dinosaur" for him too, if it's a collection. It's sort of like this one.)

PS- I have to say that this is not so obvious with the small view. It looks better in the small view.

Yup. My wife thought the same thing. That's why I painted it. Looks a little better but Im not crazy with how everything turned out on that either.

What kid doesn't like 3-horns?

Oh! Well! They can't all be masterpieces. There's always the next one. But it would still pay to troubleshoot this one - noodle with it and analyze it. Figure it out.

You've got THAT right. Two more to go, though.

You're right about that. The next one isn't really much better. Getting a bit frustrated. I think I'm a bit eager to get to the inking and not spending enough time on the pencils. I'll have to correct that.
